Because you wander into your local bookshop and find that one of the summer reading requirements in Brookline (for School Within a School) is Michael Dorris’ A Yellow Raft in Blue Water, one of my–hands down–favorite novels of all time.

It’s never on summer reading lists. Except, now apparently, where I live.
