Back in the journo pool? Kind of...
Some exciting, un crafty related news, kittens. As many of my readers know, I got my start in life (career-wise and childhood imagination wise, as every game my brother and I played non-sports related was as t.v. anchors) as a reporter; I loved it. Not every minute, but when you look back "fondly", you remember the best stuff. The adrenaline. Beating the competition. The ability to tell someone's story. A career that doesn't revolve around meetings and long term objectives. Its face-paced, each day is entirely different in some capacity, it affords the ability to learn and delve into subjects you might otherwise remain aloof about, and you get to meet and talk to people from all walks of life. Those things, I miss. That being said, as I've shifted gears in the last couple of years and charted a course to becoming a librarian, in whatever capacity makes me happy, it has afforded me the chance to spread my wings a bit and not just do "libraries". While my job started out as just that--at a 6-12 school--it has morphed into so much more; part of my week includes teaching knitting, which I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to engage students in a not-with-technology way.And now, I have been asked to be advisor to our school's newspaper next year, something that I never anticipated coming (even if wanted) but so proud to have been asked. After years with one toe slightly in the journalism pool and four toes out, I can now give some kiddies a bit of guidance on how to first dip their does, and then, hopefully, dive all the way into that pool.As always, I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing and it all shakes out. I've got plenty of time to plan....
