transmute beginnings.

During my spring break, the two knitting projects on the needles were the finishing of my birdie fair isle cardigan, as well as starting the above Transmute. Both, I am proud to say, are stash busting projects. And both, are now nearly done.I don't usually have two sweater projects going at once. But once the body of my birdie cardigan was finished, I wanted to block it out hard before doing the sleeves and button bands to get the best fit. And I just so happened to finish the body the day before a trip to Arizona for an extended weekend of camping. And so, I cast on for Transmute while I left birdie home blocking so I'd have a project for my travels.Transmute is knit up using three skeins of The Plucky Knitter Plucky Feet in the good ol pip colorway for the main. It's a gorgeous gray purple that I originally bought more than a year ago for a Grace cardigan, but then decided I'd rather use it for Transmute because I'd wear the style more. The stripes are worked in one skein of ShiBui Sock in the blush colorway, I've had in my stash for at least 5 years. I think it's a gorgeous pairing and I don't already own anything like it, so it will fit so nicely into my handmade wardrobe.The fabric is light and airy and it will be a perfect spring, summer, and fall sweater. And timing to wear it this spring seems reasonable.See more about my Transmute here. I haven't done any mods, so far. Major hurrahs for knitting exclusively from my stash so far in 2015. Besides it being a necessary step, I'm proud of myself for not buying more yarn and slowly whittling down at what was growing into a problem. And I'll tell you the main motivation for this stash busting attempt, soon, too.
