wip: wave sweater.
I’ve had the Wave Sweater by Spektakelstrik - Mie Firring on my list for awhile and debated back and forth about color and yarn. I decided to knit with Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino for the first time and I am generally pleased with its ability to keep the shape of the color work and it’s soft feel. It does seem like a workhorse yarn.
So far, I’ve made a million modifications because this pattern is light on details. I wouldn’t recommend a newish knitter tackle this one. It lacks a schematic so if you want it to fit, you need to really think about sizing and gauge. I ended up casting on to begin the raglan increases so that I can knit the collar later for added stability—I think it would lack structure if you followed the pattern.
I also wanted mine to be far less oversized and since my frame is petite, I opted to knit the smallest size. It’s exactly the fit I want, so far.
The sleeves have been a struggle to get the pattern to line up with the decreases appropriately. One of the waves underarm will be a bit wider than others, but you can’t really notice since it’s underneath.
Part of me wants to make another one of these in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in more muted tones and to take a stab at those underarms again. Another part of me never wants to work one of these again.
Finished product snaps are coming, shortly. My ravelry project notes are here.
