watermelon.

Made this little watermelon dress for my guy’s niece, who is turning the big 3 at the end of this month. This pattern was really easy; completed in 3 days, it was also budget friendly since I used Knit Picks Cotlin yarn in the cerise colorway for the main body and sprout for the bodice. The cotlin knits up beautifully, is washer machine friendly, and more importantly, Phoenix weather friendly.

I envision Abbey running around the pool all summer and this is the perfect dress to pop on over a bathing suit.

Only modification I made was instead of simply seaming the straps to the back of the bodice, I decided to knit two small buttonholes using a basic yarn over. These little coconut shell buttons go perfect with the pattern and I like that she will be able to “walk into” the dress, rather than shove it over her head.
