A woman of many...elfish fisherman...caps? If it doesn't work out, at least I'll have something to stuff dead fish in for eatage?

dscn1458Today, I've decided to take to getting a good chunk of Charlotte Bronte's novel "Shirley" (another gift from Mum for Christmas) completed, peruse the latest issue of Knit.1 (which has loads of patterns I want to try--including an homage to trends and bloggers in the knitting world, featuring the deliciousness of chunky knitwear....told you!), and of course, take on yet another knitting project while I'm still on holiday and have the time.I've decided to adapt an earflap hat I made this fall (and gifted my Mum this Christmas) and make sort of an elfin' short cap, with a ribbed cast on, and a tiny bit pompom affixed to the top. I want it to be a little baby pixi hat, in the style of a fisherman's cap that looks too small to fit about the head... and I'm really excited to wear it out to the pubs if it actually works out as I envision it in my head. Here's to hoping, since all I've got done on it so far is the 1X1 ribbing and a bit of the stockinette stitch of the hat itself. I'm doing it in a bright red merino wool (pictured above) and it's moving along pretty quickly, so I'll post a photo of it once I'm a bit farther along and it takes to the shaping.File Under: I need an elfish pixi fisherman cap, and if it doesn't work out...buy me a pint to weep in.

My facial expression looks like I sucked up several thousand pixie sticks. In fact, I just worked out the pixi elf hat.

Here's to hoping Chamberlain had dry socks on the battle fields...or at least a pint at bay?
