makes by me: hilma sweater.
Things I spend time making—and never wear. This one is the Hilma pullover from Pom Pom Quarterly and while I had to muddle through without errata, I think it came out pretty beautifully. I don’t know if I’ll wear it; they often end up being gifted. I love making things but I don’t know how to celebrate the things I make. I’m working on it. I’m trying to think differently about myself and not find the flaws in everything I do.
f.o. : gr8 gingham.
This sweater was a love/hate knit for me. I absolutely love this pattern--Gr8 Gingham Raglan by Jessie Maed Designs--and the effect of knitting it with the colors in the original sample, which are so not colors I would normally go for but...I went in.
f.o. : bistripe hat.
I haven't made too many hats in recent years because it is indeed true: you can have too many hats and you can gift too many hats. That being said, Bistripe Beanie by James Watts came along and who said too many hats?
f.o. : flying geese woven bracelet.
It only took a year, but this pandemic afforded me the time to buckle down and hold myself accountable to finishing projects I started a long while ago. The Purl Soho Flying Geese beaded loom bracelet was just one of those projects. I started it in earnest back in August 2019 and nearly finished the entire bracelet in a few days time.
f.o. : patterned outfit # many.
I wasn't lying when I said the pandemic gave me a strong desire to add prints to my wardrobe--and time. Time at home. Time with my sewing machine (much needed). I made a bunch of 100 Acts of Sewing pants no. 1 and shirt no. 2 to get me in the clothes making groove (great patterns for beginners with some nice details like bias tape neckline, for example).
f.o.: beaded resist earrings
This summer, I cranked out these drop peyote earrings that say RESIST on them. They are bold and loud. I really loved them. My sister helped me with the design and then I executed on the pattern. The drop on these is 3-4 inches.
